Plume Skill Guide
Valkyrie Profile Covenant of Plume
1) Vali's Awakening
Doubles all traits and draws enemy attacks.
"Birthed to venge his brother's bane,
But one night old he lay him slain."
Character: Ancel
AP Cost: 80
Note: Doubles all stats of Wylfred and taunts enemies to attack him. This Plume skill makes him tougher, almost invulnerable and can deal tremendous damage on enemies. However, it sacrifices his half of his health in exchange of his stats boost. Reserve this skill against bosses with very high HP and impregnable defense.
2) Gleipnir's Bonds
Paralyzes all non-leaders enemies.
"Thin as ribbon, yet stronger than steel,
Fenrir's fate these shackles seal."
Character: Cheripha
AP Cost: 80
Note: Paralyzes all enemies except for the leaders. Undoubtedly, this is the most overused Plume skill in the game and has its tactical edge especially in difficult situations. It is better used when the party is utterly surrounded by tough enemies. Get this skill as early as possible for easy gameplay ahead.
3) Vidar's Hush
Silences all enemies for 5 turns.
"No song did he sing, no word did he speak,
All to be heard was the sire-slayer's shriek."
Character: Lockswell
Effect:
AP Cost: 80
Note: Silences all enemies for staggering 5 turns. The best way to deal against a bunch of sorcerers, which renders them unable to attack, thus utterly useless for quite a long time.
4) Baldr's Pact
Negates all physical damage towards the user and deals that damage x2
to the enemy for 2 turns.
"To harm him never all creation had sworn,
The oathbreaker to suffer a goddess's scorn."
Character: Darius
AP Cost: 80
Note: Enables the user to block all incoming damages for 2 turns. The damage supposedly receive by the character is thrown back to the enemy and deals double damage. Good against one on one fight with a powerful boss, who also maneuvers special attack that can wipe out anyone in a single clash.
5) Veigr's Warcry
Adds a random change for all ally's attacks to cause instant-death
to the enemy for 3 turns.
"Down the mountains and o'er the rampart,
Rang a call to bestill any still-beating heart."
Character: Gwendal
AP Cost: 80
Note: One of the most effective Plume skill to use when dealing enemies with high health pool. It drastically changes the attack power of all allies, which gives them the power to deliver death blows. Just remember not to kill an enemy with one character only or else you’re not going to get the Sin quota of a specific battle.
6) Biflindi's Shield
Cuts all enemies' ATK in half for 3 turns.
"No weapon destroys like a stalwart defense,
It breaks a foe's spirit and shatters his sense."
Character: Heugou
AP Cost: 80
Note: Halves the damage received from enemies. It works the same as “The Art of Defiance,” which is equip in Tactics menu. However, equipping the Defiance together with this Plume skill, drastically increases the defensive power of the user than using only one of them. A decent skill to use when dealing bosses who maneuver special attacks.
7) Ratatosk's Scandal
Reduces ALL characters' HP by 50%. Does not affect
the user and the enemies' leader.
"About the great ash scurries the squirrel,
His rumors reducing warrior to wee girl."
Character: Mireille
AP Cost: 100
Note: A risky skill which can be very rewarding when used correctly. It damages everyone’s HP by half excluding Wylfred and the enemy leader. Perfect against enemies with high health pool that hinders you to achieve the Sin quota. Just after invoking this Plume skill, make it sure that all allies has enough turns to replenish their lost health. Which means you need to sacrifice a single turn just to heal the entire party members before going back to fighting.
8) Avalanche of the Jotun
Freezes all non-human enemies, except the leader, for 3 turns.
"Atop alpine heights where men dare not fare,
The bellows of giants crack the frosted air."
Character: Mischka
AP Cost: 80
Note: It works almost the same as the Gleipnir's Bonds but not against humans and leaders. Although you can’t use this most of the time, since there are only few battles where you have to fight monsters, but still a top-notch Plume skill to use when the need arises.
9) Hoard of the Dvegar
Increases the amount of gems you get during battle for 3 turns.
"Nothing can set the eyes so agleam,
As the glimmer of gemstones ripe to redeem."
Character: Earnest
AP Cost: 80
Note: Significantly increases the purple gems and blue crystals drop by enemies in 3 turns. The more purple gems acquired the more attack you can unleash until you can fully reach the Sin quota. On the other hand, the more blue crystals acquired the more experience points added to the party.
This Plume skill is best used when performing sieges (Grand Cross, Axis Raid etc.), since they increase the chances of acquiring gems and crystals, as well as rare items. If oftenly used early in the game, Wylfred’s party will most likely raises their experience in no time and acquires more powerful equipment from siege attacks. Thus, leaving the enemies two or more steps behind, which drastically changes a hard game into an easy one.
10) Hervor's Blessing
Cuts all enemies' RDM (physical defense) by 50% for 3 turns.
"Neither soldier nor suitor traverses the gate,
Of she wed fast to the shieldmaiden's fate."
Character: Natalia
AP Cost: 80
Note: Reduces the physical defense of enemies by 50 % making them more vulnerable to attacks. In short, Wylfred’s party will cause 1.5 damage from their normal attacks. Use this only when you’re having at least 3 non-sorcerer character line-ups or this Plume skill’s ability will just be a waste.
11) Hod's Smiting
Adds a 100% critical rate to all allies' attacks for 3 turns.
"Sightless he aimed and spiteless he drew,
Innocent of the murder his arrow would do."
Character: Ushio
AP Cost: 80
Note: A staggering 100% critical rate increase for 3 turns makes this Plume skill, undoubtedly, one of the best. Strategically used when having a hard time meeting the Sin quota, dealing with enemies with high HP and when utterly surrounded and outnumbered. Bosses with impregnable defense can be taken down easily when utterly surrounded by Wylfred’s party while empowered with this skill.
12) Kvasir's Mead
Negates all magical damage against all allies's for 3 turns.
"They who sip the gods' own spit,
Are seldom wont to want of wit."
Character: Lieselotte
AP Cost: 80
Note: Nullifies all incoming spells from enemies, which renders them harmless for 3 turns. Although there are other alternatives that negate or lower the damage caused by spells (such as Magic Mail, Magic Resist, Defiance etc.), yet this Plume skill has its strategic edge when dealing against a group of annoying sorcerers.
13) Inspiration of the Alfar
Removes the AP cost of all allies' Tactics for 2 turns.
"Oft will men forget themselves,
Once they inhale the breath of elves."
Character: Duwain
AP Cost: 100
Note: Saves AP of all allies for 2 turns even if they execute Techniques and use items. This Plume skill enables the sorcerers to swarm spells over enemies, heal party members, cures from negative status and revives fallen allies without any restriction. Best used when the party has at least two sorcerers, who obviously consume more AP than swordsmen, lancers and archers. However, always keep in mind that this one lasts only for 2 turns and cost 100 AP to Wylfred. Weight the situation first if it’s worth taking the risk invoking this skill.
14) Eir's Blessing
Recovers 80% of all allies' HP and the start of each Ally Phase for 3
turns.
"E'er in the keeping of the handmaiden's eyes,
Thrice he was felled and thrice did he rise."
Character: Rosea
AP Cost: 80
Note: When the going gets tough this skill definitely keeps you going. It replenishes almost all of allies HP thrice, one before each turn starts. Strategically, effective in almost all situations except when you’re not having trouble in battles or your current HP is suffice to beat the game. A good support skill to rely on when badly needed.
15) Advari's Bequest
Curses all enemies.
"The wish-taker's luck shall turn for the worse,
When the welsher wills his wish to a curse."
Character: Fauxnel
AP Cost: 80
Note: Another skill that disables enemies for a long time, just like invoking Gleipner’s Bonds. It curses all enemies, thus renders them unable to attack but still able move freely within the battlefield. Cursing early in the game while closer to your enemies may prove beneficial and gives the party the upper hand before the enemies can recover.
16) Hoenir's Arc
Increases all ally's physical attack range by 2 squares for 3 turns.
"A keen-sighted eye and a marksman's hand,
leave no refuge for prey on land."
Character: Valmur
AP Cost: 80
Note: Extends all allies’ range of attack by two spaces. This Plume skill is fascinatingly unique, making the swordsmen fight like lancers, lancers fight like archers, while archers and sorcerers can easily attack the hardest to reach enemies in the battlefield. It removes nuisance such as obstacles, which forces a character to turn the other way around or fighting an enemy, who can wipe you out with his counterattack. It’s fun and definitely useful most of the time.
17) Fafnir's Heart
Revives all fallen allies for 3 turns.
"Death itself fears those who feast,
Upon what beats in the bosom of the beast."
Character: Phiona
AP Cost: 80
Note: Automatically revives any knockdown allies in battle for 3 turns without using Union Plume or casting Invoke Feather. You can thrust your way on enemies’ ranks, smashing and brawling without any regards to your current HP.
This skill is perfect in any situation except when fighting weaker enemies. When confronting Garm in the final battle, better reserve this skill for her. Surely, there is one word that best describe this Plume skill-- “overpowered.”
18) Angboda's Allure
Poisons all enemies.
"Many lovers she has, but only one love true,
The writhing of mortals who suffer their due."
Character: Reinhilde
AP Cost: 50
Note: Poisons all enemies, which gradually depletes their HP every turn. Finishing enemies will never be easier when their HP already drops significantly, thus giving all allies an easy way getting the Sin quota and beating the game quickly.
19) Fury of the Aesir
Negates all physical damage towards your allies for 3 turns.
"Slaughter and maim without consequence,
In the name of the All-father's providence."
Character: Auguste
AP Cost: 80
Note: Makes all allies invincible against any physical damage for 3 turns. When dealing a bunch of swordsmen, lancers, archers or any non-magic unit, this Plume skill is your trump card. Another awesome skill that can be considered as overpowered. Works perfectly most of the time but not against a party full of mages.
